"It's been a real honour to represent the constituency I was born and brought up in for the last five years. Tackling the issues that local people face is what got me involved in politics in the first place and it remains what drives me today.
"Together we secured an extra £94m for the NHS in Cornwall. Water bills have been cut for the first time in a decade, and reform of water charging in the South West is in the pipeline. More trains are running on the Falmouth to Truro branch line and St Michael's Hospital in Hayle successfully stood up to the threat of closure.
"I am proud of the part I played in all of these successful campaigns. But there is still much work to be done. With our local services facing tough times in the years ahead, it's more important than ever that this constituency has a strong champion to represent it in Parliament. That responsibility now rests with my successor George Eustice - I wish him well."

Porthtowan and Gwithian beaches are to be included in a new trial that will help ensure a speedy response to water pollution incidents, and provide better quality information to members of the public using Cornwall's beaches.
