Commenting on the news that Matthew Taylor MP will be retiring from Parliament at the next General Election, neighbouring MP Julia Goldsworthy said:
"Matthew has made a huge impact in Cornwall over the last two decades. For 20 years he has consistently fought Cornwall's corner against successive Tory and Labour Governments and helped build the county's Liberal Democrat team."
"I will always be extremely grateful to him for all the help and support he has given me - both before the General Election and since. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that he will continue to stay involved in some way or another and look forward to continuing to work with him as a neighbouring MP until the next election.
"There will be many thousands of people in Cornwall who have been helped through his hard work in one way or another and will be sorry to see him go. I am sure that, like all of us, they wish him and his family every future happiness and success."
