With local elections only 6 weeks away, local MP, Julia Goldsworthy is reminding residents to ensure they are registered to vote before the deadline of 18th April.
Ms Goldsworthy has lent her support to the Electoral Commission's campaign to remind people of the need to register if they want to vote in the District Council elections on 3rd May.
Commenting, Julia Goldsworthy MP said:
"District Councillors influence many aspects of our local community and it's really important people register to vote so that they can have their say on local issues.
"If you haven't registered in the last six months, all you have to do is fill in a simple form and return it to your local District Council by 18th April.
"People who have recently moved house need to make sure they're registered as a matter of urgency - or they could lose their right to vote on May 3rd.
"Being on the electoral register is a key part of your credit rating, so it's not just voting but borrowing which could become very difficult if you don't register."
Registration forms can be obtained by contacting either Kerrier District Council (01209 614298) or Carrick District Council (01872 224205) or visiting www.aboutmyvote.co.uk .
