Julia's new team in Westminster

October 30, 2007 2:00 PM

It's all change at Julia Goldsworthy's Westminster office, following the promotion of her researcher, Sam Cannicott to the role of Education Adviser to the Liberal Democrats. Sam has been replaced by Fran Sims, with Jen Harrison joining the team to provide additional help on Treasury matters.

Sam, who was brought up in Redruth, has spent the last 2 years working for Julia in Westminster as her constituency researcher, helping Julia raise issues like Water Bills, Post Offices, and a fair deal on funding in Parliament.

Fran, Julia's new researcher, previously worked as Parliamentary Researcher to Mark Oaten MP and is a keen singer and rugby fan. Before working for Julia, Jen worked for a media company on the Parliamentary estate and she has an artistic streak, with drawing, painting and set design among her other talents.

Commenting, Julia Goldsworthy said:

"Sam has been such a great help over the last few years that I'm not surprised that he's been promoted. While of course I am sorry to see him go, Jen and Fran are going to make fantastic additions to the Westminster Team"

Fran added:

"It's great to be joining Julia's Westminster team. I am really looking forward to working with Julia and the people of Falmouth and Camborne on important local issues and continuing Sam's good work.

Jen added:

"I'm really looking forward to building on Julia's ideas about the faceless state and the impact this is having on local communities.

Commenting, Sam Cannicott said:

"Over the past two years, it has been tremendously rewarding working for such an energetic and dedicated MP representing my home town. I have seen firsthand just how passionately Julia cares about the local area - and how frustrated she gets when local people get a raw deal. Whilst I know that the new team will support Julia fantastically well, I will miss working with her and the people of Falmouth and Camborne."
