Julia visited Pendennis Shipyard last week, after a blaze last Wednesday destroyed one of their electrical workshops.
Firefighters arrived at the scene within 5 minutes. This quick response, combined with excellent fire safety measures meant that the blaze was contained to one small room, with all work at the shipyard continuing the next morning without disruption.
Commenting following her visit, Julia Goldsworthy MP said:
"A speedy response from the Fire Service was critical to the containment of this fire. But Pendennis Shipyard must also be praised for the fire safety precautions that they took.
"The fire doors were so effective that the next door rooms to the blaze escaped virtually unscathed. This meant that work at the site was able to carry on the next morning uninterrupted."
