Representatives from Cornwall College will join local MP Julia Goldsworthy tomorrow afternoon in Westminster to discuss the future of the colleges' multi-million pound campus plans with government minister Sion Simon.
The college has been affected by a funding crisis, caused by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). They have put a freeze on capital spending in colleges across the country after massively over-reaching their budget.
Cornwall College has already spent £500,000 on preparing for the work to go ahead and is effectively in limbo whilst in waits for an announcement. The government and LSC are currently working to prioritise which colleges will get funding.
Commenting, Falmouth and Camborne MP Julia Goldsworthy said:
"It is vitally important that these plans are given the go-ahead. The meeting tomorrow will ensure that the minister is fully aware of the importance of Cornwall College's plans - not only for the college but also for the regeneration of the whole area."
