Cornish MPs encourage the whole county to pledge to the Edge

All five of Cornwall's MPs are urging people to vote for the Eden Project's exciting new phase, the Edge.

MPs Dan Rogerson of North Cornwall, Julia Goldsworthy of Falmouth and Camborne, Andrew George of St Ives, Colin Breed of South East Cornwall and Matthew Taylor of Truro and St Austell, who are all Liberal Democrats, are encouraging people to vote for the Edge.

Matthew Taylor said: "Success for the Edge means the continued viability of Eden, as well as creating a world class venue and attraction.

"I am convinced that this is vital for the continued economic regeneration of the area, and is a worthy winner at national level. But it can't win unless people in Cornwall get behind it. I hope everyone gives it their full support."

Julia Goldsworthy said: "The Edge has my vote! The Eden Project has put Cornwall on the map - people come in their millions to learn about our planet's different climates and the plants that live in them.

"The Edge will go one step further, putting Eden at the cutting edge of responding to the huge challenges that climate change will bring in the 21st century."

The rallying cry from the MPs follows the support of Cornwall County councils and all the district authorities in the county.

Mr Taylor met with Tim Smit, Eden's Chief Executive to discuss the Edge and pledge the MPs support.

Tim Smit said: "We would like to thank our five local MPs and our other elected representatives who have unanimously supported the Edge. It is so heartening to see that when it really matters Cornwall gets behind its own. It is this that we hope will make all the difference."
