MP BACKS JILLY WRIGHT FOR TOWN COUNCIL10.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 21st Aug 2008
Camborne MP Julia Goldsworthy has joined local councillors in supporting Jilly Wright's bid for election to the town council. Mother-of-three Jilly is campaigning for safer roads, less litter and more facilities for children in Camborne South. She is also supporting local residents in Pengegon, who want to put a stop to anti-social behaviour on the playing fields at night. Jilly said: "I have been really moved by the warm response I have had from my neighbours here in Camborne South throughout this election campaign. "I am determined to stand up for them and work with them to make a difference to our community. "I believe that town councils are vital to the communities they serve and can make a real difference to people." Ms Goldsworthy said Jilly's strong character and determined spirit meant she would do everything possible to deliver on her promises. She said: "I have known Jilly for several years and always found her to be a hard-working, straightforward, honest person. "She is the kind of campaigner who delivers on her promises, and for that reason I think she will make an excellent councillor here in Camborne." Jilly's bid for election has also won the support of local councillors in Camborne, including county councillors Tony Bunce and John Pope, and former town mayor Jeff Collins. Cllr Bunce said: "Jilly is a dedicated local campaigner and I believe she will make a very committed councillor. "I look forward to welcoming her on to the town council and working with her to improve Camborne South." Polling day for Camborne South by-election takes place on Thursday, August 28
