JULIA CALLS FOR SWW SEWAGE OVERFLOW DETAILS TO BE MADE PUBLIC4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 14th Sep 2009 Julia Goldsworthy MP has called for South West Water to alert the local authority every time their combined sewage overflows (CSOs) discharge. Following the expose from BBC's Panorama programme, Julia has called for a joint meeting with South West Water, Surfers Against Sewage and the Environment Agency to discuss reports of excess sewage being dumped on beaches across Cornwall. The MP for Falmouth and Camborne said: "I am calling for a meeting with South West Water and Surfers Against Sewage to discuss how this situation can be resolved. "Our beaches are a national treasure - and are an important part of Cornwall's natural landscape, as well as being vital to our economy. It's absolutely essential that people can bathe in our waters with absolute confidence. Panorama's investigation has raised serious concerns that must be investigated and addressed. "As minimum, South West Water should make information publicly available every time each storm water drain overflows, particularly if it could pose a potential risk to bathing water quality."
